As I grow older and gain valuable life experiences, I can honestly say I've learned some things that remain a constant. A few of the more obvious things that you should NEVER do, is attempt to get a better look in your gas tank by using a lit match as a light source. NEVER determine if your car can reach speeds of 140 mph whilst driving blindfolded in a mall parking lot. Most importantly, NEVER as a teenager, make an expletive laced suggestion to one of your annoying sisters in the kitchen, if unbeknownst to you, your mother is literally inches away from the fork drawer. Lucky for me, mom threw like a girl.
But somewhat less obvious is when you one day learn the futility of debating, or arguing a point with an arrogant and/or stupid President of the United States. Arrogant people tend to hold themselves in significantly higher esteem than their peers do. You can't tell them anything, because they're convinced they're brighter than you are. They have no basis of fact to feel this way. They simply believe the unsubstantiated contention that they know more about everything than everybody else. So you can make the most eloquent, well thought out and thoroughly researched pleading of all time, and the self-important, arrogant person across the desk from you merely rolls his eyes and starts once again spewing his baseless theories without so much as a moment's pause.
Next you can apply the same scenario noted in the previous paragraph, but substitute arrogant with stupid, and you virtually have the exact same situation. The only real difference being, is the stupid person is incapable of allowing his emotions and miniscule intellect to work in unison. His ability to understand the ramifications of his own actions are limited, and therefore the more convincing the argument you make to counter his nonsensical theories, the more frustrated and rigidly stubborn the idiot becomes. He in effect digs in his heels deeper and deeper ala the dog that "puts his/her brakes on" as you attempt to load them into the car, because the dog knows the next stop is the Veterinarian's office, where a painful shot is awaiting their canine ass.
Speaking of arrogant and stupid, or was it stupid and arrogant? It doesn't really matter. Earlier this evening, George W. Bush gave his much awaited address to the nation concerning his objective, fair and balanced assessment of the ETHNO-SECTARIAN DISPUTE aka the Iraq War. Bush stated amongst other egocentric, self-serving propaganda, that by year's end, "HE" is bringing more than 5,000 of our troops home. Never mind the fact that these specific troops were scheduled to come home anyway, along with the fact that this troop recall merely reduces the current force of 169,000 soldiers by a paltry 3%. In fact, to listen to Pollyanna Bush speak earlier this evening, you'd think this Iraqi War was singularly the most fortunate event in this country's 231 year history. However, the worst news of all, is that this arrogant and stupid failure is planning to enter into an agreement with the puppet government of Iraq to set up a permanent military presence in the Hell on Earth known as Iraq. Just when you think Muslim terrorists and insurgents couldn't possibly hate America anymore, Bush takes the silver plate out his head and hands them all the recruiting fodder they could ever hope for. Maybe Bush can move there after his term expires and ride around the countryside on his PET GOAT.
The only important things to remember here is that Bush doesn't care about anything or anyone but himself. He wants history to anoint him as this great visionary genius who in the face of overwhelming adversity and doubt, proved to be the one shining light in this black hole we presently know as Iraq. Remember, Bush fancies himself as the sharpest tack on the bulletin board, the brightest star in the heavens and the flat out smartest guy in whatever room he's in. However, that last self-assessment is proved false every time Bush and Barney spend a quiet evening alone discussing world events in the Oval Office.
You can't reason or win an argument with a stupid guy. You can't reason or win an argument with an arrogant guy. Bush doesn't care that our troops are dying every day in Iraq for nothing. Bush doesn't care that troops are being severely injured physically and mentally every day. Bush doesn't care the US Treasury is being bled dry by pumping over $2 Billion a week into this war. Bush doesn't care about anything but himself and his legacy. The question, therefore, has to be, what do the American people care about? The time has come to find out. Are the American people too arrogant and stupid to dig our collective heels in the ground and refuse to go along with this war anymore? The time has finally come to put up or shut up.
If you don't know how to contact your elected officials, you can find the telephone numbers and email addresses for your two senators and congressional representative on this form and let them how you feel about this war. Doing absolutely nothing when something desperately needs doing, makes you apathetic and lazy. I would NEVER want to be in a position where I had to choose what traits defined me amongst apathy, laziness, stupidity and arrogance. What about you????????
